Love Like Winter
Pale mits propelled the leviathan across the earth with ease her oceanic orbs glimmered in dying day light, as the sun began its descent into the loving embrace of the night. The air around the plains was beginning to cool as the pale leviathan made its way to the clear pool of water known as the water hole. Her eyes scanned the other creatures linger the lipid pool of liquid. Her hunger had been satiated earlier that day and now she just required something cool to drink and maybe a soak. As she neared closer to the still pool she looked to both sides rather weary, she after all was a lone lioness fair game for males to take advantage of. Though she was a female and looked like she could be dominated, she would not go down without a fight.
After glancing about her several time she dipped her muzzle into the water and began to drink her oceanic orbs, keeping close watch for any young males or elders who would approach. She would run as she did not feel like a fight, or having her freedom forcibly taken away. She would not allow it, she was enjoying being able to go where she pleased, and do what she liked when she wanted to. She was not one to be oppressed and would not allow it to happen, if she could.
As the pale leviathan finished drinking she turned and made her way to the shade of a nearby tree. Her hulking form lowered to the ground as she stretched out over the grass, watching the other creatures move about the water hole coming and going with not a word. All of them watching her with a weary eye.

Protracted blades of prairie swayed with colors of green and yellow mixing to make something close to olive in the fields. The trimmings at the tips of the tree danced, their leaves rustling in recitation of the wind. High above the sun glowed, a giant sphere of smoldering fire that warmed the back of a lone cheetah. He moved slowly, paws delicately abrading the terrain while the deep ochre of his eyes scrutinized a vast savannah land on front of him. Placed perfectly in the center was a watering hole, and beneath the coverage of the savannah grass he could pin-point each animal congregating at the waters side. The sun was bright on his back, and he enjoyed the rays that made him feel tepid. It was that exact feeling that stopped him from springing from his position to feast upon one of the animals so oblivious to his presence. Instead he rose from his pose and started forward his gait slow and his eyes filled with lethargy. The warm temperature sometimes made him feel lazy, and today, with the solid gold sphere holding up and not a cloud in the sky, was one of the those days. He was panting, his tongue tucked safely inside his mouth, but the breaths that he exerted were rough and forced.
He padded downhill, his paws tenderly touching the terrain as he went. Upon his head the darkened, rounded ears pivoted back and forth adjusting the sounds of animals as he neared the watering hole. His intention was to find water and shade, and both seemed readily available to him here. The insipid was shimmering in the light and ripples ran to the shore with the breeze. At his approach the other animals eyed him nervously, their muscles taut to run if the cheetah should make a move toward them. Tokken paid them no mind, ignoring the scents that wavered into his nose and instead focusing on the irrigate that filled the hole. When he reached it, he observed the creatures around with curious examination. When he lowered his maw his kept his eyes upward, all the while watching while he drank. The liquid was cool against his throat, sweet and supple in his mouth and along the tongue. He lapped at it greedily, extending the long muscular legs into the pool and darkening them with insipid. The ebony patterns along his back stood out stronger in the light that picked up the golden hues of his main coat. His tail waved behind him in eloquent movements, until finally he rose his head, thirst contented.
For the first time since he had stridden into the lands and reached the hole, Tokken assessed the shady lands beneath the trees, inspecting a place for him to rest. With ochre eyes he spotted her, lying within the shade and yet somehow her coat was still light, a creamy color he couldn’t quite place. Her eyes we made of the finest blue, and she struck him so implicitly he just stared at her for a moment, taking in her appearance before he began to walk over. Under another circumstance, perhaps if curiosity hadn’t won out, Tokken would ignore her completely, today however inquisitiveness conquered all the signals that told him she was a fierce lioness whom lest she be disturbed could snap his neck in two. His approach continued regardless.
As he reached the edge of the trees the shade slithered over his coat, transforming the bright golden color to copper in the shadows. His eyes darkened to ecru in the awning of the foliage and the tear-stained marks along his cheeks were impeccably perceptible. He wasn’t close to her; instead he opted to keep his distance, at least for now, and leaned back upon his hind legs. The muscles in his neck were taut, but otherwise he was relaxed in her presence, and raised his lips in a smile. The whiskers lining his maw twitched as the muscles in his face conformed to an unusual outline, behind him the tri-colored tail flicked side to side, and he cocked his head as he examined her.
“Hello There.” Tokken spoke; the vocals the slid from his mouth were deep and as soft as velour in tone, unexpected from a male with his lithe figurine. His watched her, gently appraising her with the darkened color of his eyes, for a big cat of a different breed Tokken couldn’t deny the striking beauty she exuded. It was rare that he would appreciate another’s breed distinctive features when he was so keen on promoting his own. He debated on introducing himself before she had a chance to return his welcoming ‘hello’ and thought it might be best to explain his presence.
“I noticed you in the shade. I hope you don’t mind some company?” Vocals took the shape of a question, his eyes watching her with ease. No tension was in the air yet, and Tokken was thankful for that. He waited eagerly for a reply in the heat of daylight, though the shade managed to cool him some.
