APPEARANCE, uno dos tresThough one could easily expect a feline with such a defining name to have an equally defining appearance, it is to be said (and remembered) that Samael fits very comfortably into the ubiquitous standards of his proud species. Deep-chested and narrow-waisted, he could certainly be described as a tad stringy - but that, to him, is attributed entirely to his young age in the manner of having not filled out to full potential. He is gangly in a true adolescent variety, as if he is still recovering from a rather recent and traumatic growth spurt. Even so, Samael proves to be a rather distinguishing figure and there are many features about him that make him an individual - the first of these being the so-called 'mustache' he sports. While he is not an exception to the dark tear-marks that trail downward from the inner corners of his eyes, these marks do not end at the apex of his upper jaw but rather continue forward to create a hook like marking that curls forward to taper off at his philtrum. Pearly white whiskers sprout from these inky patches, not especially straight and consequently contributing to Samael's somewhat haphazard appearance. His muzzle, cheeks and scalp are peppered with the spots that define his species, which grow larger as they extend outward towards his back.
His face is not especially narrow or sharp, but is instead rounded with the appearance of youth. Cheeks ticked with marks that almost seem like freckles, his bone structure, if anything, is somewhat cone shaped. Samael's muzzle isn't particularly long, instead fitting harmoniously into his visage and certainly making it seem more symmetrical than his otherwise uncoordinated sauntering. His eyes have the same untamed, tangible intelligence of all wild creatures, painted with a deep bronze hue and feathered with gold. His ears are not as tall as many of his cousins but are nonetheless perched proudly either side of his broad skull.
The contrast between the main color of his pelt and light underbelly is not especially prominent, instead merging together in a gradient that tricks the eyes and makes it seem that, at first, the fur underneath his spots is but one color. Indeed, Samael's coat is not as strikingly golden as far as his species' reputation goes, instead adhering a duskier tan shade. Naturally, his fur is dotted with circular black marks, as his race dictates, though they seem to be clustered closer together along his spine. Samael has yet to shed the cub fur that makes it seem like a mane is sprouting between his shoulder blades (though, honestly, he wouldn't complain if it didn't disappear). He holds himself with a regalia that is severely misplaced and yet it suits him extraordinarily well, as well as his cultured voice. All things considered, he is still a very proportionate Cheetah, with all of his physical characteristics working together to make him quite the dashing feline.
PERSONALITY,
Samael, first and foremost, is a feline who prides himself on being everything an exceptional member of society should be, or so he thinks. Even so, he is not one to gloat but rather prefers to simply sit and bask in the attention he so firmly believes he should get. In that sense, this Cheetah can be considered a little fanciful, though this is entirely outweighed by the seriousness with which he handles his life. Undeniably brusque and perhaps a little thoughtless, Samael seems to have no sense of humor nor adventure and can be very indignant if another insists on taking too much fun out of life when it is better to be cautious. As the man of the family, Sam is of the belief that he has many expectations and strives to meet them as well as he can. Protective and savvy, he prides himself on being eloquent and intelligent, a true book-worm, and though his view on life is somewhat skewed he never fails to amaze even himself with quick-witted sarcasm. Though it would not be correct to say he is refined, he certainly has the potential to be as such.
However, though this feline thinks quite highly of himself, it is often quite the opposite when it comes to the opinion of others. Despite what he may think he appears like, he often comes across as very skeptical and abrasive and quite often does not understand why people (especially his sister) become so defensive in response. True to his vanity, Sam finds it difficult to accept anything but his own opinion and will often find himself in a deep sulk if his word continues to be refuted. He is patriotic, quite sexist and even a little racist, considering the other big cats - and especially hyenas - around the preserve to be dimwitted barbarians. Though his sister may be older - which he passionately denies at any given moment - he considers himself the only one competent enough to make the decisions.
This, all in all, only highlights the fact that Samael is actually rather unreliable. Though he constantly attempts to cast himself in a serious light, he is still quite young and immature - this shows when an actual crisis pops up. Despite constant rumination over possible situations, Samael has a tendency to panic when push comes to shove and does not work well under pressure. He is a cheetah who tries to make himself appear like everything he is not. Sam is actually rather rash, and this often leads to mortification on his part. Quick to assume things and easy to hold a grudge, he is... quite the mess, personality-wise. Even so, Sam is loyal, versatile and can be courageous when he is tested enough. Though he certainly has room for improvement, he is not hostile to the point of atrociousness and means well.
FIRST IMPRESSION, Sarcastic, abrasive and overly-serious with a penchant for mocking the mystical.
HISTORY,
Samael grew up as part of a two-part litter with hisolderyounger sister Luftanza. Though there was no favoritism when it came to their mother, he often forced attention upon himself by running into possible danger and showing off. A lot of the time, he did this for attention from his sibling but was often ignored. Actually, it's a wonder that he wasn't snapped up by an eagle or something. Upon leaving their mother, Sam forced himself to grow up fast and took on what he belives is an authoritarian role.
RELATIONSHIPS,
- LUFTANZA, his
olderyounger sibling, upon whom he often attempts to force his opinions but often fails.
